Cascade Pass Hike (Cascades Pass Hike) - Northern Cascades National Park

The hike to Cascade Pass in Northern Cascades National Park was part of my California to Canada road trip

I hiked up to Cascades Pass two times - once with my fiddle and once with my family.

The trail to Cascade Pass is 3.7 miles (6 km) one way - 7.4 miles up and back.

Elevation gained in climb up to the pass is 1700' (550 m) - it's considered a moderate hike. It didn't seem that hard to me, but I went slow and stopped, rested, played my fiddle and took pictures quite a bit. There is some shade for the first part of hike

You start the hike at the Cascade Pass Trail Head. The trail head parking lot isn't that big and often fills up early. I was camped just outside the national park but drove to the trail head parking area with my camp stove and ate breakfast at the trail head - by the time I finished my breakfast, the parking lot was full. The Cascade Pass Trail Head is in a beautiful spot and has a picnic table - the Northern Cascades National Park website hike description has many more details about the hike.

I hiked with my fiddle up to Cascades pass. People kept wanting to take a picture of me with my fiddle. They would ask what type of music I played - so I would play something. I even had people dancing on the pass at Cascades Pass while I fiddled - it was lots of fun. I took some video that includes me fiddling and people dancing at Cascade Pass
